Simple SITTEMP Help

Overview

Simple SITTEMP is a situational template tool for building military overlays on a Google Maps base. Place NATO APP-6 unit and equipment symbols, draw shapes and tactical graphics, and export your work.

Toolbar

  • Select — Click to select, drag to move placed items.
  • Shapes — Draw circles, rectangles, polygons, lines, freehand, and stars.
  • Equipment — Place NATO equipment modifier icons (rifles, mortars, vehicles, etc.).
  • Units — Place friendly unit symbols with echelon and labels.
  • Enemy Units — Place enemy (diamond-framed) unit symbols.
  • Tactical Tasks — Place FM 3-90 tactical mission task graphics (block, seize, isolate, etc.).
  • Text — Place text labels on the map with font styling options.
  • Map Type — Switch between terrain and satellite; toggle roads, labels, and city-only overlays.
  • Measure — Click two points to measure distance.
  • Export — Save your overlay as KML, PDF, or PNG screenshot.

Style Panel (Right Side)

Change line types (solid, dashed, FLOT, wire, mines, etc.), line and fill colors, opacity, stroke width, and symbol scale for selected or newly placed items.

Keyboard Shortcuts

MGRS Grid

Toggle the MGRS grid overlay with the Grid button (top-left). Adjust grid color and weight. Right-click the map to copy MGRS coordinates.

Tips

  • When placing a unit or equipment symbol you will be prompted for left/right labels and echelon.
  • Use the Scale slider to resize symbols after placement.
  • Coordinates (Lat/Lon and MGRS) are shown in the top-right corner as you move the cursor.
